Ten ways to launch a program

 

  1. From the Start Menu Run box
    1. Click the ‘Start’ button
    2. Select ‘Run’
    3. Type the name of the program in the ‘Open:’ line – example notepad
    4. Click OK

 

  1. From the Start Menu ‘All Programs’ button
    1. Click the ‘Start’ button
    2. Click ‘All Programs’
    3. Find the desired program
    4. Click on the program

 

  1. From the Start Menu 
    1. Click the ‘Start’ button
    2. Click the desired program

 

  1. From a desktop Icon
    1. Find the program icon
    2. Double click the program icon

 

  1. From the Quick Launch Bar
    1. Find the program icon in the quick start tray at the bottom of the desktop.
    2. Click the program icon

 

  1. From Windows Explorer
    1. Open Windows Explorer – Right click the Start button; click ‘Explore’
    2. Find the program – programs are called “applications”
    3. Double click the program Icon

 

  1. From file association
    1. Find the data file you want to open using Explorer (above) or the Search function (below)
    2. Double-click the file.  Windows will launch the program needed to open that particular file

 

  1. From Search Results
    1. Click the start button
    2. Click ‘Search’
    3. Select  ‘all files and folders’ (or ‘files or folders’)
    4. Find the program – programs are called “applications”
    5. Double click the program icon

 

  1. Auto Launch
    1. Program launches automatically when the computer is started, or
    2. Launches at programmed intervals.
